Adnan Al Rajeev’s short film “Ali” becomes the first-ever Bangladeshi film to be officially recognized in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
At the closing ceremony held at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on May 24, the film received a Special Mention in the Short Film category—announced by the jury president, German filmmaker Maren Ade.
As Rajeev stood among the audience, the hall erupted in applause, celebrating a milestone moment for Bangladesh on the global cinematic stage.
