Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is set to return to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival with the world premiere of his highly anticipated action film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on May 14. The film will be screened out of competition at the prestigious French festival.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, this eighth installment of the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise continues the adventures of Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, as he and his team face new global threats. The cast includes returning stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Hayley Atwell, along with newcomers Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, and Tramell Tillman.
This marks Cruise’s first appearance at Cannes since Top Gun: Maverick premiered there in 2022, earning him a surprise honorary Palme d’Or. The actor is expected to attend the premiere along with McQuarrie and fellow cast members.
The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 13 to 24, with the full lineup to be announced on April 10. This year’s jury will be presided over by acclaimed French actress Juliette Binoche.
Adding to the glamour, Cannes will also honor acting legend Robert De Niro with an honorary Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement during the festival’s opening ceremony.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will hit theaters worldwide on May 23.
